Don Van Vliet/Captain Beefheart

The Artist Don Van Vliet died just recently, on the 17th of December. Many know him best as Captain Beefheart.

His music always made me want to go paint and listen to the grass grow; I always think of the lyric he composed: "Somebody's had too much to think", quite often.

Somehow the downpour we have been having seems appropriate...

Golden Dawns, not showers...

I rise early in the mornings now and for those who don't have the time: A golden dawn is upon us, purple light fades rather easily into various shades of blue sky. The moon (in the southwest) looks like a sickle or a smile and is perched between the purple and blue portions. Ducks and various birds float around the crisp-cold-arid-air. Orion is in the east and It is no longer raining.

People look dark brown/ burnt orange with hints of prussian blue at this hour. Shadows scatter about rhythmically and I try to capture what i can with my pencil...

Rat Bastard Fink Running T-Shirt

After much issues with the transparencies and the color registration; I was able to pull a somewhat decent pull of rat finkesque design. I didn't include the text that goes with the shirt. it is for a running team: Crazees on the Run. The thunderstorms provided a nice soundtrack for most of the entire time...

Also moved into new room that I was able to paint "neptune" color; It makes me feel more productive.

I made some progress on Bp prints, I am using Permaset ink which is ideal for paper but it dries very quickly, in fact it started to clog the screen on some prints--need retarder!

Muse/maquette

Muse was amazing! Im glad they played Exogenesis: Symphony part 1. I took awful pictures but oh well...also every one who went with me really liked the shirts.

I was playing with sculpey making a maquette I have in mind that will be used as a life sized sculpture and possibly as a character for video class. Its not looking that great yet but I'll have to put some serious work into it.

yesterday was a good printing day. we were able to accomplish a pretty good rainbow roll using the muse logo. A few people have asked for one so hopefully the next ones are more aligned...for shits and giggles here are some flowers that are on the kitchen table at the moment thanks to Emma.
